-- I IntroductionThis workshop builds a bridge between the high-performance world of professional artistic practice and the subtle neuromotor education of the Feldenkrais Method. Rather than focusing on relaxation or on adopting the “correct posture,” Alan Fraser’s approach seeks something more powerful: vitality and structural integrity. The inquiry is practical and musical: how can the skeleton efficiently support the demands of an instrument? Over three days, the workshop alternates between group lessons, demonstrations, and collaborative practice sessions. |
-- II For whom? For musicians, this workshop offers a space to explore how bodily organization directly influences tone production, phrasing, and technical ease, while relieving pain and redistributing effort. For Feldenkrais practitioners, it offers a live laboratory for applying Functional Integration and Awareness Through Movement to complex artistic tasks, where stability, dexterity, and expression are all present at once. -- IV Alan Fraser Alan Fraser is a pianist, teacher, and author originally from Montreal. His work grows from a long fascination with the relationship between movement and sound, including early study of Tai Chi and later training in the Feldenkrais Method. He continues to perform, teach internationally, and write about piano technique, expressive gesture, and the structural awareness of the body. |
